Ja, das sind doch Mal gute Neuigkeiten. Der Staat hatte wieder Bastelstunde und am Ende ist da wieder so ein niedliches Schnüffel Tool zur Bürger Überwachung herausgekommen. Experten der University of Toronto sind offenbar auf eine weitere Version des FinFisher-Trojaners gestoßen.

Als Online-Durchsuchung wird der verdeckte staatliche Zugriff auf fremde informationstechnische Systeme über Kommunikationsnetze bezeichnet. Der Begriff umfasst sowohl den einmaligen Zugriff (Online-Durchsicht) wie auch die sich über einen längeren Zeitraum erstreckende Online-Überwachung.^[1] Als bisher in Deutschland gesetzlich nicht ausdrücklich geregelte Methode staatlicher Informationsgewinnung soll die Online-Durchsuchung im Rahmen der Strafverfolgung, zur Gefahrenabwehr oder zur nachrichtendienstlichen Informationsbeschaffung eingesetzt werden.

Ziel der kriminalpolizeilichen Online-Durchsuchung soll sein, in Einzelfällen und nach einem richterlichen Beschluss die privaten Computer von mutmaßlichen Schwerstkriminellen zu durchsuchen, um Hinweise auf mögliche kriminelle Netze zu erlangen.

FinFisher is surveillance software marketed by Gamma International. It which has stirred controversy for being marketed to government security officials who were told it could be covertly installed on suspects’ computers through exploiting security lapses in the update procedures of non-suspect software. Egyptian dissidents who ransacked the office’s of Egypt’s secret police following the overthrow of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak reported they discovered a contract with Gamma International for €287,000 for a license to run the FinFisher software.

A security flaw in Apple’s iTunes allowed unauthorized third parties to use iTunes online update procedures to install unauthorized programs. Gamma International offered presentations to government security officials at security software trade shows where they described to security officials how to covertly install the FinFisher spy software on suspect’s computers using iTunes’ update procedures.

The security flaw in iTunes that FinFisher is reported to have exploited was first described in 2008 by security software commentator Brian Krebs.^[2]^[3]^[5] Apple did not patch the security flaw for more than three years, until November 2011. Apple officials have not offered an explanation as to why the flaw took so long to patch.

Allem Anschein nach ist eine mobile Fassung des Schadprogramms auch mit gängigen Smartphones kompatibel. Durch die Angreifbarkeit von beispielsweise iOS oder Android-Systemen, könnte ein infiziertes Handy zum getarnten Spionage-Tool werden.
